James Plumb: Suitcase Stacks & ChestsPosted: November 17, 2011
These charming storage cases combine vintage beauty with eco-conscious recycling. Individual cases can be stacked for a varied assemblage or chests can be made as single units. These are a true testament to the value in excellent craftsmanship. The cases have withstood years of undoubtedly rough toting and yet still are suitable to take on a second life. More from the designer below.
From Plumb: A selection of old suitcases are housed individually in antiqued steel and wood cases that have been tailor made in Somerset. Each stack of different sized cases forms a unique chests of drawers. Every case is carefully and painstakingly repaired and repurposed – relined in Swedish linen ready to recieve their new contents. Each chest is a one off and different sizes and combinations can be commissioned. Each set is unique with the metal framework customised to the suitcase’s varied dimensions. Stacks of different numbers and different widths are available.
